Do you remember that song from Lit?

“It’s no surprise to me, I am my own worst enemy

‘Cause every now and then, I kick the living shit out of me”

Every once in awhile, this song pops into my head. Maybe because music back then was actually good #fightme

Or maybe because it’s trying to tell me something.

Cause if I’m being honest, I was totally my own worst enemy for so long.

I told myself I couldn’t do it.

I told myself I wasn’t good enough.

I told myself that I couldn’t be free to be me.

Yes, those things stemmed from stories and beliefs.

But they were there.

Implanted into my brain … like a song stuck on repeat.

If you’re not where you want to be, I can guarantee you have been your own worst enemy.

YOU’RE the one telling yourself you can’t do it.

YOU’RE the one telling yourself it might not be possible

Yes, you may have people behind you that don’t quite believe in you, and that sucks, but it’s your choice to believe their bull shit.

That’s the key here.

There’s no rule that says you have to believe what people say or think about you.

We do because we want that validation. We want to know what others think, and we want them to think good things.

And that’s great and all, but if they don’t, fuck them. That’s their opinion. And likely one that they’re projecting on to you. It could be out of worry for you or out of their past experiences. And whether the intentions are good or not, it’s their experiences nonetheless. It’s their story.

It doesn’t mean it has to be your story too.

You get to write your story.

You get to decide what you think, feel and do.

Don’t you see?

It’s a choice.

You have all the choices in the world. You can to choose and CREATE your reality.

How empowering is that?

So when you think back to my original point about being your own worst enemy, what do you choose?

Do you choose to believe the shit that’s been put upon you?

Or do you choose to stop being your energy and be your own greatest cheerleader instead?

I’m going to go with the 2nd one.

How about you?

Show up. Be unapologetic. Be YOU.
